As I began to grow and mature in my Christian faith I found that I was desiring to understand God's word better and I wanted to hear more preachers and teachers bring clarity, explanation and application from the Bible.  Now this was a funny crossroad for me to reach in my life because I distinctly remember driving around with my Dad when I was young and he would be listening to cassette tapes of sermons in his car...and I thought that was so boring.  Now I suddenly had a much greater appreciation for what my Dad was doing and I wished I had paid a little more attention!  Over time I have found some "go to" resources online and I'll listen to several sermons throughout the week as I work.  If you are looking for sermons to listen to this will be a helpful place to start.

Riverside Connect

If you ever miss a sermon because you are out of town or serving in one of our ministries I strongly encourage you to go back and listen to what you missed online.  This is extremely important for us to remain unified and on mission for Jesus here in our community!

Harvest Bible Chapel

Free sermons from Pastor James MacDonald at Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago.  In the past year or so he has probably become my favorite pastor to listen to online.  He teaches powerful messages that often make me want to laugh and sometimes cry and he does a great job of teaching personal application of Biblical truth.

Mars Hill Church Seattle

Free sermons from Pastor Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church in Seattle.  Mark doesn't pull any punches and his direct and sometimes edgy approach is refreshing and challenging.  He affirms the timeless and powerful truth of the Gospel to his church in one of the most progressive and post modern cities in the country.  I recommend the "Doctrine" series as well as the series they recently completed on "Luke".

Redeemer Presbyterian

Free sermons from Pastor Tim Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian in NYC.  Tim's style is much more academic than the others that I typically listen to, yet it is deeply soul stirring.  He often digs beneath the surface to get at the root of our relationship with God and the sin that interferes with that relationship.  Some of the sermons on this site have a cost to download...but nearly every sermon in their extensive  "free" collection is well worth listening to...sometimes repeatedly.

Elevation Church

Free sermons from Pastor Steven Furtick at Elevation Church in Charlotte.  Elevation is a young church that is geared towards reaching the post college crowd in Charlotte.  They often operate on the edges of what a lot of people would consider "comfortable"...but Steven's radical commitment to Jesus keeps them focused on what really matters.  He preaches in a way that makes a ton of connections to current pop culture...an approach that makes sense given his target audience.  He tends to have more guest speakers than a lot of the other guys I listen to and honestly I have really disliked a few of them...but as with any online teaching you need to use discernment and bring everything that you hear to all of God's Word and see if it fits.

If you listen to sermons from a Pastor or Church that have helped you and that you would recommend to others please add a comment and a link below!

Remember...this doesn't replace reading your Bible, praying, meeting with others at Riverside, serving, and attending on Sunday morning.  True ministry is going to happen organically and locally with the people that God has given you access to and a connection with through the local church.  These are simply resources that can help us to grow in our faith and sharpen our understanding of God's Word...and to that end they are valuable!

Check out St. Simons Community Church's Lead Pastor David Yarborough from St. Simons Island, Georgia (www.sscommunitychurch.com). Born and bred in Georgia, David preaches powerfully with down to earth humor and southern sensibility.
