How many times have you felt unequipped and said to the Lord, “Lord, I do not have what it takes to do this!”  (Fill in the blank to whatever THIS may be.)  I know that I have said this countless times in my life.  The good news is that when God calls us to anything in life, He does not expect us to do things, anything, in our own strength.  What God wants from us is our obedience.  He wants us to bring the little that we have and He will add the rest.  What wonderful news! As we see in the scripture below, even Moses felt unequipped to do what God was calling him to do.

10But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”

11Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? 12Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” (Exodus 4:10-12)

What is it that the Lord is calling you to today that you need to say “YES” to? Know that if He has called you to it He will equip you with what you need for the job.  God gave Moses his brother Aaron the Levite to be Moses’ spokesperson to the people. “Aaron will be your spokesman to the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him, telling him what to say.” (Exodus 4:16) God knew Moses’ limitations and in the same way He knows ours.  God knew exactly what Moses needed to lead the Israelites.  Do you believe that He knows you intimately? Do you trust that the Lord will equip you in the same way He equipped Moses? May you rest in God’s power and do the work God has set before you.  Come to him in prayer and then take that next step that He is calling you to.
