Naturally, I am not a patient person at all. I get anxious and greedy when I want to know the answer to something or find out what is going to happen. The anticipation of something kills me.

Recently, I have been asking God for a lot. Whether it is about my future career, future and present relationships, my health, performance, classes… you name it, I’ve asked about it.

I have been trying to work on letting things play out in my life. It is not so much of what I want to happen, but what God wants to happen. It is difficult to give him everything. Sometimes we don’t want Him to touch certain things in our life. We like where some thing are going, but not others. “You can fix that God, but not this”. That is not how He works though and I have come to realize this in my own life.

I began to change my prayers from, “Lord can you help me get this internship I really want and please let this thing that I am pursuing go somewhere…”, to “Lord, if it is in your will, then let it be done”.

Luke 22:42

saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

Everything that God has planned for us will work out. He will never fail us. If it doesn’t work out, then maybe it wasn’t for us! Maybe there is something better suited for us!

Something that I never fully grasped until now is that God has everything perfectly timed out and mapped out for us. All we need to do is to ask him to fix our hearts so that they are in line with his plan for us.

If we ask Him for things that are in line with His will, then we will receive them. When we ask, He can help us desire the things that He want for us, not the things that we want for ourselves.

Our Lord is almighty. Although we may think sometimes that we are asking for a lot and that He does not have time for something so small or unimportant, He hears us. He hears every prayer, every desire, every sorrow, everything!

Sometimes all we have to do is be patient. Let Him do His thing. Give Him time to change things and play them out in our lives.

Be still.

Proverbs 19:21

Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
