Philippians 2:14-15

Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

It is so easy for us to complain and argue about our busy lives. That is often our first reaction to many situations. Driving through traffic…we complain. We are swarmed with work…we complain. We disagree with someone…we argue. Paul tells us in Philippians to do all things without complaining and arguing. Now as hard as it may seem to remain at peace sometimes, remember that Paul is writing these words as he is chained up in prison. He had every reason to grumble and argue with God, but he chose to look at the good. He chose to use that time to further the Bible and share God’s word.

When we act as children of God, we shine the light of Christ for all to see. We shine His light in this dark and twisted world for all to see how good He truly is. He brings peace to us in this world and nothing fulfills us like He does.

You will get your work done. You will get to where you need to be. You can have your own opinion without arguing. You can be that light of Christ for others to see if you let the Lord into your heart.

Remember that Jesus died to know us. He sacrificed His life so that we may live. The cross is a daily reminder and the most perfect example of the love that we should show to others around us. There is hope because of Him.

It is so difficult for me to try to change my behavior from the outside. I have found great relief and more fruit by allowing God ti change my heart. When I see patterns in my behavior, it is time to reconnect with God and my inner self. After I allow Him to show me what is underneath my behaviors, and to heal me, forgive me, instruct me, whatever is needed, then with acceptance and gratitude I can go on with life. If I am not at peace with God and myself, I cannot be at peace with my life. Acceptance and gratitude are key spiritual attributes that keep me from the frustration of trying to control myself or others. It is a needed daily renewal, from God.
