Riverside Community Church Blog

As I am walking into the hospital this past weekend for clinical, I notice a phrase on the wall for some inspiration to employees before they head into work.

It read, “Tough times don’t last. Tough people do”.

I won’t lie. At first, I was a little motivated. But as I really thought about it and prayed for some understanding on this, I began to realize how misleading this can be.

Tough times don’t last forever. That is true, but what is it that gets you through it? What is it that heals you?

The world tells us to be strong and be courageous. Fight through the pain and suffering. That is true, but where does your strength come from? Where does your courage come from?

Joshua 1:9 God tells us,

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God is with us wherever we go and whatever we are going through. We can’t handle the world on our own and that is okay because guess what? We were not made to.

We have a creator, a savior, a healer, and a father. Someone who wants to help us through this life in good times and in tough times. He surrounds us with good and loving people to support us, but ultimately, He is the only one who can truly fulfill us, sustain us, and heal our wounds.

If you feel like you can’t handle life right now. It’s okay. Me neither. But we can handle it with the help of our Lord, Jesus.

Turn to Him and let Him in. Let go of the control, the grip that you hold so tightly over your life and surrender it all to our God.

His precious body was wounded for you on the cross. Look to that if you are in need of a beautiful reminder of how much He loves you.

Revival is found in Him.

Exodus 14:14. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.
