Through the book of Daniel, we see men of incredible faith standing on the promises of God, believing in who God is (instead of what He can give them), clinging to Him and His character and unwavering in their faith. This book of the Bible is teaching me so much and I am really grateful for that!

The theme that God has been hammering home to me while reading Daniel over the past 9 weeks is “He (God) sees the big picture.”  I see a snippet of my life each day. God sees all of my days.  I am learning the true meaning of “daily bread.”  For years I prayed the Lord’s prayer saying, “Give us this day our daily bread,” (Matthew 6:11), not realizing what I was actually praying for.  Daily bread-reliance on our Heavenly Father day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute.  God sustain me today.  What a challenging concept to grasp and live out!

I encourage you to choose to rely on the God of the universe daily; the one who sees all and creates all and yet knows us in such an intimate way.  Let’s look at Colossians 1:16:

16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him.

Psalm 139:13-16 says…

13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Our God sees the big picture.  He is powerful enough to have created the entire world and everything in it, including you and me.  The God that gave His only Son (Jesus) to die for you and me so that we could have eternal life in Heaven with our Father forever and ever.  Our God is a personal, yet powerful God.

Do you know God? Do you spend time in His Word getting to know Him on an even deeper level? Have you put your faith in Jesus-the one who died for you? I pray that every day you can confidently put your trust and hope in the God of the universe.  Daily bread living is my prayer for all of us.
