Two things always stood out to me about the Backstreet Boys.

One was that the very first song I ever heard from them was proclaiming that "Backstreet's Back...Alright!".  I never even knew they existed...now they wanted me to be excited about the fact that they were back?!?  This was a bit confusing and got things off on the wrong foot.  Unless they meant they were essentially the return of New Kids on the Block which would make a lot of sense.

The second, and more relevant thing, was that their song "As Long As You Love Me" contains a hint of Gospel truth in it.  According to the song's lyrics "I don't know who you are, where you're from, what you did, as long as you love me...".  For any human to say that is pretty much a lie...but that comes pretty close to God's response to us.  Because we are justified through the work of Jesus and not based on our own merits God truly does accept us no matter who we are, where we're from or what we did...as long as we love Him.  When we accept the free gift of salvation that has been offered to us through Jesus by turning from our sins and confessing Him as Lord we are adopted into God's family and the righteousness of Jesus is attributed to us.  Mind blowing but true!
